Tortoise and Hair
(15in x 17.5in x 9in)
This sculpture is a play on the tales of the Tortoise and the Hare as well as Lady Godiva. The tortoise wins the race by taking the slow, steady pace rather than the fast but exhausting pace of the hare. Likewise, Lady Godiva rides through town naked upon a mount only covered by her long hair and her stoic nobility. Both tales embody patience and perseverance in finding your path in life and in acceptance of unexpected detours.
Hand built (coil technique) ceramic sculpture painted with encaustic (pure pigment suspended in beeswax and damar resin) paint. .
